BSW art exhibition

The best pieces from the Bahn-Sozialwerk (BSW) foundation were exhibited at the DB Museum from 15 March – 4 May 2014.

Creativity is the hallmark of people working for railways. In Germany, about 31,000 serving and retired employees of different ages and from different fields are involved in some 750 BSW groups. These are teams dedicated to cultural and leisure activities covering almost every conceivable topic, from amateur radio, rail history, photography and film to painting, music, Esperanto and chess.

Every year, the creations of people in the art groups are reviewed and the best works go on display as part of a big exhibition. It comprises roughly 320 paintings and sculptures drawn from every field in the visual arts. The DB Museum hosted the 2014 show, which not only impressed visitors with its size, but also represented a highlight of the year thanks to the sheer quality of the works on display.
